Beach Volleyball
Team Specifics
Each team would consist of a maximum of 7 team players
and minimum of 5 players.
A minimum of 1 female player must make up the team and
a minimum of 1 female player on court at each time of play.
Signal for a timeout or substitution must be stated before a
substitution is made. Each reserve player should be by the
sidelines and is only allowed into the court once the player
has left the game.
If a point is scored, the players are allowed to substitute at will.
Rules and Regulations
Team has three hits for returning the ball, including the block
touch.
Consecutive contact must be made by different players on
court.
Open-hand dinks, where a player uses his or her fingertips to
redirect the ball into the opponent's court, are illegal.
It is legal to cross under the net as long as doing so does not
interfere with the opponents' attempt to play the ball.
Ball "IN" when it touches the ground of the playing court
including the boundary line
Ball "OUT" when:
(a) Falls on the ground completely outside the boundary
lines (without touching them) i.e. as long as ball touches
boundary it is considered "IN".
(b) Touches an object or person outside the court.
When blocking, players may touch the ball beyond the net,
provided there is no interference with opponent's play.
When attacking, player is permitted to pass hand beyond net
as long as contact with ball is made within own playing space.
When the receiving team wins a rally, it gains a point and the
right to serve. The serving player must be rotated every time
this happens.
Contact with net is not a fault, unless it is made during the
action of playing the ball or it interferes with play.
Most players, either by choice or by requirement of the rules,
always play the game barefoot.
Objects that may cause injury to a player, such as earings,
bracelets and watches are forbidden.
Players may wear glasses at own risk.
Fouls
Unsportsmanlike behaviour is subject to loss of possession
or dismissal from the game.
Choice of penalties will be to the discretion of the referees.
A foul is made when a player touches the ball more than 3
times at once side,
When the ball touches the floor before being hit, and
Referees decision of choice of penalties will be final.
Game Play
All teams in the preliminary rounds would play a round robin
league system of 7mins per half game (1min half-time break)
with the scoring system as follows:
- WIN = 3 points
- DRAW = 2 points
- LOSE = 1 point
- WALKOVER = 3 points
